Samuel Monroe Jr., known for his role in the 1990s film Menace II Society, has been hospitalised in Southern California and is reported to be in critical condition.
According to family members, the 52-year-old actor has been on life support for several days while battling Meningitis. His prognosis remains unclear, with relatives receiving regular updates from medical teams.
In a message shared on social media, Monroe’s mother appealed for prayers and support, expressing hope for his recovery and describing him as deeply loved by his family.
Monroe built a career across film and television, appearing in titles such as Tales from the Hood, Set It Off and The Players Club. His television credits include roles in Out All Night and NYPD Blue.
He also featured in the parody film Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, which satirised 1990s Los Angeles crime dramas.
