Several major roads in Nairobi will experience partial closures in the coming months to allow for ongoing infrastructure development, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced.

In a public notice, KURA Director General Silas Kinoti said a section of Haile Selassie Avenue will be partially closed from June 12 to October 12, 2026, to facilitate bridge construction works.

He said the works are aimed at improving urban mobility while ensuring safety for road users and minimizing traffic disruption during construction.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during the construction period.

“We apologize for the inconvenience caused as we endeavor to transform urban mobility,” Kinoti said.

In a separate notice, KURA announced a partial closure of a section of Ngong Road from June 11 to June 18, 2026, to allow for the installation of twin cross culverts. The affected section lies between Windy Ridge and Westwood Park Road.

Additionally, a section of Kenyatta Avenue, Valley Road, and Jakaya Kikwete Road will be partially closed from June 12, 2026, to February 12, 2027, to allow for bridge construction works along the corridor.

KURA urged motorists to plan ahead and use alternative routes as construction continues, noting that the projects are part of ongoing efforts to upgrade Nairobi’s road network and improve long-term traffic flow.
