Peso Pluma has an estimated net worth of $20 million. The Mexican singer and songwriter has built his fortune through music sales, streaming, songwriting, live performances, collaborations and other commercial ventures.

Born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, Peso Pluma rose from Mexico’s regional music scene to become one of the biggest names in contemporary música mexicana. His success has been driven by a modern take on regional Mexican music, particularly corridos tumbados, which combines traditional Mexican sounds with elements of hip-hop and other contemporary genres.

Peso Pluma’s breakthrough came in 2022 and 2023, when a series of hit collaborations helped him dominate Latin music charts internationally. His songs “AMG,” “Ella Baila Sola,” “La Bebé” remix and “Peso Pluma: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55” all reached number one on the Mexico Songs chart.

His 2023 album “Génesis” became a major commercial success, reaching number three on the Billboard 200 and topping both the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums and Top Latin Albums charts.

    Early Life

Peso Pluma was born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija on June 15, 1999, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico.

He grew up in Guadalajara, where he developed an interest in music at a young age. At 15, he learned to play the guitar by watching instructional videos on YouTube.

Pluma also began writing songs as a teenager. He has said that writing became a way for him to express his emotions, eventually helping him develop his songwriting skills.

His early exposure to Mexican music and contemporary sounds would later influence the musical style that became central to his career.

    Beginning of His Music Career

Peso Pluma began his professional recording career in the late 2010s and released his debut studio album, “Ah y Qué?”, in 2020.

Before establishing himself as a solo artist, he worked with his cousin Roberto “Tito” Laija Garcia, better known as Tito Double P. The two released live projects through the independent label El Cartel de los Ángeles.

“Ah y Qué?” featured songs including “Relajado Voy” with Decreto Real.

In 2021, Peso Pluma released his second studio album, “Efectos Secundarios.” The project included songs such as “Mil Historias,” “Con Dinero Baila el Perro” and “Lo Que Me Das.”

That year, he also released “Por Las Noches,” which became one of his early major successes. The song reached the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and helped increase his visibility outside Mexico.

    Rise to Fame

Peso Pluma’s career accelerated dramatically in 2022.

He released several successful singles, including “El Belicón,” “Siempre Pendientes” and “El Gavilán.” These songs performed strongly on Mexican and Latin music charts and earned significant certifications in the United States and Mexico.

“El Belicón,” recorded with Raul Vega, became a major commercial success and was certified eight-times Platinum in the Latin category in the United States.

He also collaborated with Luis R. Conriquez on “Siempre Pendientes,” while “El Gavilán” featured Luis R. Conriquez and Tony Aguirre.

One of the most important moments of Peso Pluma’s career came with “AMG,” his collaboration with Natanael Cano and Gabito Ballesteros. The song reached number one on the Mexico Songs chart and became a major hit in the United States.

The success established Peso Pluma as one of the leading figures in the rapidly expanding corridos tumbados movement.

    “Génesis” Album

Peso Pluma released his third studio album, “Génesis,” in June 2023.

The album became one of the most successful regional Mexican projects in recent years. It reached number three on the Billboard 200 and number one on both the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts.

“Génesis” also became the highest-charting regional Mexican album on the Billboard 200 at the time.

The album included songs such as “PRC,” “Bye” and “Tulum.” “PRC,” a collaboration with Natanael Cano, reached number two on the Mexico Songs chart and number four on the Hot Latin Songs chart.

The album’s success significantly increased Peso Pluma’s international profile and contributed to his growing earnings from streaming, performances and other music-related activities.

    “Ella Baila Sola”

One of Peso Pluma’s biggest career-defining moments came with “Ella Baila Sola,” his collaboration with Eslabon Armado.

The song became an international hit and topped multiple music charts. It also reached the Billboard Hot 100, helping bring música mexicana to an even wider global audience.

“Ella Baila Sola” was certified 21-times Platinum in the Latin category in the United States and twice Platinum in Spain.

The song’s popularity helped Peso Pluma transition from a major Mexican music star into an internationally recognized artist.

    Major Collaborations

Peso Pluma has built much of his career around collaborations with leading Latin and regional Mexican artists.

He has worked with Natanael Cano, Eslabon Armado, Grupo Frontera, Yng Lvcas and Bizarrap, among others.

His collaboration with Grupo Frontera on “Tulum” became another major success, while his appearance on Yng Lvcas’ “La Bebé” remix helped the song reach number one on the Mexico Songs chart.

The “La Bebé” remix was certified 13-times Platinum in the Latin category in the United States and twice Platinum in Spain.

Peso Pluma also collaborated with Argentine producer Bizarrap on “Peso Pluma: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55.” The song topped the Mexico Albums chart and became another major addition to his growing list of successful releases.

    Streaming and Music Earnings

Streaming has become an important part of Peso Pluma’s income.

His songs have generated hundreds of millions of streams across digital platforms, while his albums and collaborations have consistently appeared on major music charts.

Revenue from streaming is shared among artists, record labels, songwriters, publishers and other rights holders, meaning chart success does not directly translate into an equivalent amount of personal income.

However, the sheer scale of Peso Pluma’s streaming success has made music royalties an important component of his estimated wealth.

His growing popularity has also increased his earning potential from live performances, festivals, endorsements and other commercial opportunities.

    Awards and Recognition

Peso Pluma has received numerous awards and nominations during his rapid rise to international fame.

In 2023, he won several Billboard Latin Music Awards, including New Artist of the Year, Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Regional Mexican Song of the Year.

He also received recognition for “Ella Baila Sola,” including awards connected to its success as a Latin hit and vocal collaboration.

In the same year, Peso Pluma won an MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act.

He also received nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards for Best New Artist and Best Latin, among other categories.

At the Premios Juventud, he won awards including Artist of the Youth – Male, New Generation – Regional Mexican and Best Regional Mexican Song.

“Génesis” also earned a nomination for Best Regional Mexican Music Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

    Peso Pluma’s Music Style

Peso Pluma has become one of the leading figures in the evolution of corridos tumbados.

The genre combines elements of traditional corridos with modern sounds influenced by hip-hop, trap and other contemporary genres.

His music has helped introduce regional Mexican music to younger and more international audiences.

Rather than relying exclusively on traditional arrangements, Peso Pluma and his collaborators have incorporated modern production and themes associated with contemporary youth culture.

This approach has helped música mexicana expand its presence on mainstream streaming platforms and international music charts.

    Personal Life

Peso Pluma has generally kept much of his personal life away from the spotlight, although his relationships have attracted significant media attention.

In November 2023, reports emerged that he was dating Argentine rapper Nicki Nicole. The pair had previously collaborated on the remix of “Por Las Noches.”

Peso Pluma’s growing fame has made his personal life a regular subject of entertainment media coverage.
