Kaizer Chiefs announced parting ways with former Gor Mahia left back Godfrey Walusimbi five months into his three-year contract on Thursday.

The limping giant also announced two fresh signings, Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpey from Chippa United and right back Reeve Foster, who arrived from Bidvest Wits.

Walusimbi made 14 appearances for the Amakhosi in all competitions, mostly under Italian coach Giovanni Solinas, who signed him.

However, the 29-year-old struggled for playtime since arrival of German gaffer Ernst Middendorp in December last year.

Ernst has preferred recently promoted Happy Mashiane in the left back role leaving the Ugandan mostly confined on the bench.

The signing of Akpeyi also meant Chiefs had to free up one foreigner slot to abide by foreigners quota rule which only allows five per club and Walusimbi clearly became a soft target.

Chiefs have struggled since their inspirational goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune suffered a long term injury. Namibian Virgin Vries, who has been manning the goal posts in his absence has been error prone, forcing the club to look elsewhere for solutions.
