Never a dull moment, is probably the best expression that can be used to describe micro blogging site, Twitter, with the latest moment being who owns International star Lupita Nyong’o.

Kenyans on Twitter popularly known as KOT, recently found themselves in an awkward situation after Tanzanians claimed actress Lupita Nyong’o.

According to the Tanzanias, Lupita is a Tanzanian star, who has gained the nation global recognition.

“We are proud of you always, putting us as Tanzania globally recognized, ” Edwin Masobeji wrote.

Ombongi James, a Kenyan, found the post quite confusing and sought clarifications “That’s Lupita from Kenya how does she connect with Tanzania?” he posed.

To the amusement of Kenyans following the thread, the Tanzanian argued that just like Mount Kilimanjaro is visible to Kenya, is the same way Lupita is visible to the neighbouring nation.

“Anaonekana hadi Tanzania kama vile Kilimanjaro inavyoonekana hadi kenya, ” Mosobeji said.

What followed was an interesting discussion that even linked popular Tanzania music crew, Wasafi. Some said even Tanzania’s Nasibu Abdul Juma alias Diamond Platnamz has a Kenyan girlfriend, Tanasha Dona.

Carzola wrote, “Wasafi wote pia watanyakua wakenya(Loosely translated as: All Wasafi musicians will marry kenyans.)”

Some felt Kenyans should claim Ali Kiba, now that he spends most of his time in Mombasa.

“Can we claim Ali Kiba too, since ameshinda mombasani,” @gazatwita wrote.

Some Kenyans jokingly said they can hand over Deputy President William Ruto to Tanzania.

“Hivi vice president wenu ako vipi? Twaweza wapea pia wetu muwe na wawili. Twawapenda Sana watanzania,” Sheminem wrote.

Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, is located near the boarder of Kenya and Tanzania, but falls entirely on the Tanzania’s soil.

The mountain has a clear view from Kenya, and many Kenyans have associated with it right from childhood, as it’s taught right from primary school.

On the other hand, the actress, with a Luo descent, is a daughter to Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o.

She was born in Mexico where her father was teaching. However, she was raised in Kenya before proceeding to the United State to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Film and theater at Hampshire College.

The Oscar award winner, identifies herself as Kenyan-Mexican and has dual Kenyan and Mexican citizenship.
