    LG Optimus 3D Launches in the Kenyan Market

    LG Optimus 3D Smartphone has officially been launched in the Kenyan market. The phone launched globally in June and went out on sale in Europe the next month. It has taken LG six months to bring the phone into the Kenyan market which speaks volume on how the African market is perceived by the major smartphone vendors.

    The phone which is the first to feature 3D viewing, runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) which is upgradable to version 2.3.

    The phone was first unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in February 2011.

    Some specs of the Optimus 3D smartphone

    • 4.3-inch glasses-less 3D LCD with 800 x 480 resolution
    • 1GHz dual core TI OMAP4430 processor
    • 512MB of speedy dual channel RAM
    • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, and a couple of 5 megapixel cameras on the back
    • 14.4Mbps HSPA+ connection
    •  HDMI-out port
    • A removable 1500mAh battery

    The LG Optimus 3D is the latest addition to the “LG Optimus family” namely Optimus Me, Optimus One and Optimus Black, all already in the Kenyan market and retailing at Kes 15,000, 20,000 and 40,000 respectively.
