Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has demanded for answers on the establishment of the so-called “Sugar Bond” which has affected the market for Uganda’s locally manufactured sugar in the regional market. Museveni in a letter dated August 19 tasks Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda to explain how Brazilian sugar made its way in the market. Counsel for the embattled Deputy chief Justice (DCJ) Philomena Mwilu, Okong’o Omogeni  managed to get an amended order from the High court suspending the prosecution. The chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi had declined the orders from Justice Chacha Mwita saying that the case number indicated in the order was not the same case that he was presiding over. The stay orders that were issued by Justice Mwita have been reverted. Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi said that the orders needed to be clear An issue of technicality had arisen where the case number that was on the stay order was different from the case that was before the chief magistrate. High court judge Chacha Mwita has issued stay orders stopping criminal proceedings against DCJ Philomena Mwilu and her lawyers Stanley Kiima. Police investigations have revealed a cousin to Garissa governor Ali Korane was the mastermind behind the shooting of former finance executive Iddi Mukhtar. It emerged that a plot to eliminate the former county executive and a city lawyer was hatched because they had planned on challenging the academic qualifications of the Garissa governor Ali Korane. Garissa governor Ali Korane has been arrested and is being held at Kilimani police station over the shooting of former finance executive, Idris Mkutar. A company linked to Mombasa county governor Joho’s sister is said to have a contract to do street rehabilitation. The company won the tender through single sourcing as it was not advertised. It alleged that the said company also received money to start the project in advance without giving the county a valuation report for the project. The project was allegedly initiated by the same businessman who gave the proposal to repaint all buildings within the Mombasa CBD to white and blue. A fire has broken out at Eastmatt supermarket on the busy Mfangano street. No casualties have been reported. Police are looking for Nairobi assembly clerk Jacob Ngwele after he escaped arrest by DCI officers at the assembly on Friday. Three of his colleagues were arrested.
