Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, was in for a rude shock on Saturday after she checked into a hotel with her husband but were kicked out because they did not have with them a marriage certificate. The couple checked into Sunshine Upperhill Hotel in Kericho at 4 pm and left shortly to visit their in-laws. MallforAfrica shopping App has collaborated with DHL, an express courier delivery company and have launched an e-commerce website MarketPlaceAfrica.com, where skilled Africans will promote their products to people across DHL’s 220 supply nations. The cost of super petrol will starting midnight rise further and will retail at Sh112.20 per litre in Nairobi, up until August 14, 2018. Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has in the latest fuel prices review increased the cost of Petrol by Sh3.39 per litre. Diesel and kerosene prices have however gone down by Sh0.35 and Sh0.14 per litre respectively. “Average landed cost of imported Super Petrol increased by 5.54 percent, diesel decreased by 1.11 percent and kerosene went down by 1.91 percent,” ERC said in a statement. Former Managing Director Ben Chumo has been arrested by DCI officers for committing offences of economic crimes. Chumo was apprehended alongside a Ms Beartice Meso, General Manager, Corporate Affairs and the Company’s Secretary. Detectives are also looking for Peter Mwicigi, General Manager Regional Co-ordination who has been advised to report to the nearest police station for processing. Nyandarua Firstlady Anne Kimemia made for a juicy topic of discussion on social media after images of her donating over-sized under garments went viral. Fatma Ahmed will go down in history as the first woman to be appointed as Major General in the Kenya Defense Forces. She has been promoted to the position of Assistant Chief of the Defense Forces for Personnel and Logistics. The former Brigadier was sworn in by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday morning. In 2015, Fatma became the first Woman Brigadier in the Kenya Defense Forces. A woman has sued the Nairobi Hospital for negligence on the doctors part. Naomi Wangui Mwangi says that she developed complications after undergoing a caesarean section. The doctors, she says, did not complete the procedure leading to the perforation of the colon. Admitted on February 12, 2018, Ms Wangui was forced to extend her stay at the hospital which resulted in a skyrocketed bill. Community Internet service provider, poa! internet on Thursday launched Kenya’s first village home Internet service. The internet provider is offering unlimited Wi-Fi into homes around Ting’ang’a, Kiambu County. 20 MPs are currently in Russia for the World Cup for a ‘bench-marking’ exercise. The legislators, led by nominated senator Millicent Omanga strongly came out to defend themselves claiming that some of them including herself are self-sponsored. Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua and social media influencer Xtian Dela have lost a significant number of Twitter followers after Twitter locked accounts whose activities they say are have changed over time. Twitter announced that most people would only lose four or fewer followers while those with larger follower counts will experience a more significant drop. Police officers have nabbed drugs in Nairobi’s Muthaiga North Estate. The afternoon raid in the posh estate saw the officers discover an unknown amount of drugs and elephant tusks of unknown value. Reports indicate that the home or scene of crime (House Number 65) belongs to a man identified as Joseph Wanjohi alias Muthie, who lives right opposite Education Principal Education Belio Kipsang (House Number 60). The officers could not immediately establish how much the drugs and tusks are worth but say that Mr Wanjohi’s family members are also drug lords.
