The National Super Alliance (NASA) has began private prosecutions against six Safaricom staffers they believe colluded with the IEBC and the French IT Firm, OT Morpho to bungle the August 8 presidential election. Presidential candidates taking part in the October 26 fresh presidential elections will on Tuesday meet with the IEBC in order to ‘create a common understanding.’ The meeting will be held at the BOMAS of Kenya starting at 11 am. University of Nairobi (UoN) students on Tuesday morning staged demonstrations along Lower Kabete road right outside the Lower Kabete Campus. The students are protesting against the recent police brutality against some of them on Thursday as they were protesting for the release of their former student leader and now Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino. Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has said that some of the videos doing rounds online showing police frog marching and assaulting University of Nairobi students are fake. NASA supporters on Monday held demonstrations in some parts of the country in a bid to force IEBC officials behind the nullified presidential election leave office. The protests will be taking place twice a week; on Monday and Friday as directed by presidential flag bearer, Raila Odinga. National Super Alliance (NASA) has asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to prosecute Jubilee party’s Chief Agent, Davis Chirchir. The opposition has accused Chrichir of illegally accessing the IEBC servers during the August 8 elections. The High Court on Monday stopped the Jubilee Government from publishing its achievements on print and electronic media pending hearing of a case filed by a lobby group. The Presidential Delivery Unit, according to the case filed by the Katiba Institute been using public resources to publicize its achievements during the electioneering period. Kisumu residents supporting National Super Alliance (NASA) have staged protests in the city and are calling for the removal from office of IEBC officials believed to have cost Raila Odinga the presidency. Odinga called for demonstrations countrywide on Mondays and Fridays up until the officials resign. The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) will launch investigations into why the number of police officers committing suicide is on an all time high. Speaking on Sunday, Police Commissioner Rosemary Kuraru said that the officers could be taking their lives due to work or personal related issues. “It does not matter what you are going through but do not take your lives using the guns entrusted in your hands”, said Kuraru.
