The High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by Abduba Dida seeking to have the presidential debates slated for 10th and 24th July halted if not all eight candidates are allowed on the same platform. Judge Joseph Mativo has dismissed the case saying the case lacks merit. Justice Mativo continued to say that the case did not constitute discrimination for the organisers of the debate to separate the candidates into two groups for the purposes of the debate. Senator Hassan Omar’s campaign vehicle was on Friday morning vandalized by unidentified people. The road show truck was stoned by goons at around 3am. According to reports, no one was hurt during the incident. The truck is said to have been vandalized and some parts made away with. It is also said that the attackers also attempted to petrol bomb Omar’s campaign operations secretariat at Renaissance Center but failed. Kalonzo Musyoka, has accused Jubilee of planning to collaborate with the Al Ghurair Company to rig the August 8 poll. Chama Cha Mashinani party offices in Mauche was reportedly painted white by Jubilee supporters on Thursday, months Governor Ruto opened it. According to the Elections Observation Group Media Monitoring Unit, twenty-eight cases of hate speech and inflammatory language were recorded between May and June. The unit assesses spread, degree and substance of hate speech and inflammatory language on radio, TV and newspapers. The unit has monitored five national TV stations, 13 radio stations, including four county-based ones, and four local dailies. Leo Mutisya, who is leading the initiative, said it is aimed at deterring hate and inflammatory remarks. Tanzanian authorities ordered for the detention of an opposition lawmaker on Tuesday for insulting President John Magufuli. Maghufuli had earlier ordered officials to take action against ‘incitement’. The opposition has accused Magufuli, nicknamed “the Bulldozer” for his blunt leadership style, of presiding over an increasingly authoritarian government. Police officers have been warned by the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet  against posting photos of crime scenes on social media. Boinnet directed that officers on ”unauthorised” social media platforms, including WhatsApp and Facebook, pull down the photos or face disciplinary action. The directive is part of strict guidelines issued on the use of social media ahead of the August polls. “All police officers are warned that those found culpable will face tough sanctions,” Boinnet said in a notice to the officers on Wednesday. Independent presidential candidate, Abduba Dida on Wednesday rejected an offer from the police to have four GSU officers attached to him. The former teacher rejected the Inspector General’s offer and insisted on having twenty officers as part of his security detail. The candidate had initially been offered two officers but offer later revised after endless protests. Five to 10 boys from Manyatta Secondary School are believed to have walked 34 kilometres on Sunday night to Dede Secondary School for what is believed to have been a sex orgy. Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero will according to new poll beat Senator Mike Sonko in the August 8 poll. The TIFA poll revealed that 44 per cent would vote for Kidero and 43 per cent for Sonko. Kijabe police have found a body suspected to be of a victim of extrajudicial killing in Kinale Forest on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. According to the Star, the body did not have any identification documents and had been eaten by wild animals when it was discovered on Tuesday evening.
