Four Nyamira County government officials succumbed to injuries on Monday morning following a gruesome accident. The incident, that claimed the workers’ lives, occurred in Sironga, along the Nyamira- Kericho highway. The four died after a speeding lorry crashed the car which they were travelling in. Two of the workers are said to have died on the spot while the other two died at Nyamira County and Referral Hospital. A man, who works as a cobbler, has been charged for stealing a television set in Kawangware. Appearing before Kibera senior Magistrate Florence Mutuku, Moses Karanja pleaded guilty to the charges. He was noted to have stolen a 32-inch television set on April 11. According to the prosecution, Karanja was arrested after the public informed the police that there was suspicion that he was a thief. Raphael Papaya Torome, was charged at Nairobi Milimani Court with the offense of demanding property by written threats. Kilimani residents’ association have divulged their plan to build a new police station worth Ksh350 million. According to the chairman steering the construction committee, Karanja Kabage, the residents believe that there is a need to construct a station befitting the station’s status as the center that serves State House. Police have rescued thirty-one women in Likoni Mombasa believed to be victims of human trafficking. The 31 rescued are reported to be aged between 18 and 22. Detectives busted the trafficking syndicate in the Friday morning operation. The nationalities of the girls are yet to be revealed by the officers. The County Government of Siaya has divulged their plans to legalize the production, sale, and consumption of Chang’aa. Speaking on the unique proposal, County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Enterprise and Industrial development Jaoko Oburu stated that through the department of trade, the county had identified a liquor directorate.
