Ghanaian’s MPharma has announced that it is buying Kenya’s second largest pharmacy chain, Haltons Pharmacy. Through the deal, MPharma, a six-year-old company which manages prescription drug inventory for pharmacies and their suppliers, will enter the East Africa regional market for the first time. The unprecedented deal between the two companies will see MPharma manage 20 Halton stores in Nairobi and Mombasa. Garissa Township Member of Parliament (MP) has lost two of his family members in a tragic road accident on Friday night. The National Assembly Majority Leader divulged that he had lost his cousin Habiba Sheikh Abdullahi and his niece Dr Deyman. The company behind the creation of the e-citizen payment system, Webmasters Kenya Limited, has accused ‘high-ranking government officers’ of disrupting the execution of the process. The government of Kenya is reported to have ordered the closure of Dadaab Refugee Camp by mid-this year. According to a leaked internal United Nations document obtained by the Thomson Reuters Foundation,  the government ordered the closure citing “national security concerns.” The document further notes that the Uhuru Kenyatta-led government drafted a letter to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) on February 12. President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to travel to China with an aim to secure Ksh380 billion loan for the funding of Naivasha-Kisumu standard gauge railway. Unknown individuals broke into a Bungoma home belonging to Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga on Friday morning. The unidentified individuals are alleged to have stolen a 32-inch TV set and other house items. Investigators probing the unfortunate Ethiopian Airlines crash that killed 157 people have revealed their preliminary conclusion. According to the results, an anti-stall system is believed to have been activated moments before the crash. The plane, a Boeing 737 Max, crashed on March,10, barely six minuted after its take off from Addis Ababa. Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal has filed an application to the Court to bar the EACC from arresting him. In an application filed at the High Court, Governor Lenolkulal through his lawyer Lawrence Karanja requested the court to grant him anticipatory bail pending his imminent arrest by the EACC. Ministry of Health has revealed that Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has been detaining patients and bodies over an accumulated debt of almost Ksh6 billion. In a report released on Thursday, the Ministry noted that 184 patients and 387 bodies have been detained by the facility due to the debt. The report put the exact non-payment at Ksh 5, 692,834,284. The Auditor-General Edward Ouko has raised concern over Ksh4.3 million allocated by Meru County government on rearing earthworms and black flies. According to the Auditor General, the county government was put on spot spending the millions in the 2017/2018 financial year without an assessment on the project.
