Kenya police has applied to detain journalist Walter Menya for an extra 3 days after he was presented in court this morning and charged with soliciting bribes to write a favourable story. According to an affidavit sworn by police investigating officer Moses Gituathi, Walter Menya solicited Ksh 50,000 between 15th and 17th June out of which Ksh 32,000 was transferred to him on various dates through M-Pesa and the balance was to be collected in person in Buru Buru on the day of the arrest. Nyando MP Fred Outa found himself on a hostile ground when he went to mourn the late Miruka Owuor. According to sources in Ahero, the MP was attacked by youths believed to be supporters of Governor Ranguma. A parent has petitioned the parliament in Kenya to help him know why his daughter had to succumb to treatable illness in a Nakuru school despite having medical cover. According to Josephat Namatsi,  his 15-year-old daughter (Tracy Sylvia) who was a student at the Moi High School Kabarak in Nakuru died on January 14. The death was surprising as Tracy had just left home a week before. According to a report released by the IEBC, NASA’s presidential running-mate doesn’t exits as Kalonzo Musyoka is listed as the nominee for the Presidency by the Wiper Democratic Party while Raila Odinga has been submitted as the ODM candidate with no running-mate. Nature lovers are up in arms in Mwea after one of the rich industries in the area, Nice Millers, cut down trees and destroyed birds’ nest. According to residents of Meru County, the company used contractors to cut down some Acacia trees along the way, completely destroying the breeding nests of the birds. These birds are also said to aid in pollination of rice which leads to good harvests. The residents have called on NEMA and relevant government authorities to reign in on errant companies which doesn’t pay attention to nature when carrying out their activities.
