Nature lovers are up in arms in Mwea after one of the rich industries in the area, Nice Millers, cut down trees and destroyed birds’ nest.

According to residents of Meru County, the company used contractors to cut down some Acacia trees along the way, completely destroying the breeding nests of the birds. These birds are also said to aid in pollination of rice which leads to good harvests.

The residents have called on NEMA and relevant government authorities to reign in on errant companies which doesn’t pay attention to nature when carrying out their activities.
