A primary school teacher and a chief were killed in an attack by al-Shabaab militants at Hulugho town, Garissa County. The teacher served at Hulugho Primary School, while the chief was in charge of Boma Location. They were both shot at close range, fatally on Monday January 26. Detectives from Nairobi Central Sub-County have arrested two suspects believed to be part of an inter-country mobile phone theft syndicate, following the recovery of more than 900 stolen mobile phones in Nairobi’s Central Business District. The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted along Charles Rubia Street near the busy Buscar bus stage. The body of a boy aged one and eight-months-old and who had gone missing was retrieved from a water well at a residential apartment in Riruta area, Nairobi. A 30-year-old woman and his eight-year-old son were burnt to death in a fire incident in Waithaka area, Dagoretti, Nairobi County. Detectives are investigating the murder of two men whose badly burnt bodies were found in a forest in Mt Elgon, Bungoma County. The deceased were identified as Jahana Cheptuit, 27 and Alex Kiprotich, 23. They had been killed and their bodies burnt in Tomoi area within the expansive Mt Elgon Forest. Two men were shot and wounded in a brawl at a club in Kitengela, Kajiado County. The gunman was said to be a senior police officer who was at the C and M Bar and Lounge.
