The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is mourning the death of their women’s team coach Daniel Bor.  Constable Bor collapsed and died as he was training at the Magadi General Service Unit’s National Police College – Magadi Field Campus on Saturday, officials said. Bor was among about 500 of other officers on training sessions and were on route march exercise when he collapsed on Saturday March 30 evening. Police said he was rushed and attended at camp dispensary and thereafter referred to Magadi Tata hospital for further treatment but succumbed at around 7 pm while undergoing treatment. Two people died and almost 2,000 were left homeless when fires engulfed hundreds of shacks in three separate incidents in South Africa’s Cape Town during the weekend, emergency services said Sunday. Two of the fires occurred on Saturday evening and one in the early hours of Sunday morning. “An adult male and female sustained fatal burn wounds and were declared deceased by medics” at one of the informal settlements, the Cape Town’s fire and rescue spokesman Jermaine Carelse said in a statement. The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO) announced they will start a nationwide starting Monday, April 1. KUCO said that the strike had been prompted by a prolonged neglect by the government in addressing critical matters that affect them. The neglect, KUCO added, directly impedes the delivery of quality healthcare services and further undermines the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). They want immediate issuance of confirmation letters for permanent and pensionable positions for their staff members. The feud between Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi and Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a is far from over. Kenya has deported at least seven Nigerians over claims of drug trafficking, being in the country illegally and being involved in cyber crimes and money laundering. Some Kenyans have been complaining of being swindled of cash in suspicious schemes. These have been linked to the Nigerians. Some were arrested with DTB credit cards which they were using in the missions. Police and immigration officials said the victims were deported between March 18 and 21 in an operation staged in estates in Nairobi. The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) plans to amend the law to enable the guards be armed. PSRA Director General Fazul Mahamed said this will compliment their operations. In the coming days, he added, they will introduce in parliament an amendment to Section 53 of the Private Security Regulation Act No. 13 of 2016 which will authorize the issuance of firearms to security guards. At least three suspected bandits were shot and killed in a shootout with police at a village in Lorugum area, Turkana County. Police said they recovered an AK47 rifle with three bullets from the slain men in the Saturday March 30 incident. The incident happened in Kangalita in Kalemnyang area. A wanted suspect was arrested and a pistol that had been robbed from a senior police officer recovered from him from Kiandutu slums, Thika, Kiambu County. The inspector of police attached to the Critical Infrastructure in Thika West had on Friday March 29 said he was attacked and robbed of the pistol loaded with 10 rounds and his mobile phone. A man lost his life in a horrific car crash near Athi River, Machakos County, on the busy Nairobi–Namanga Road on Saturday. 36-year-old Silvester Mutinda was struck by a trailer headed for Namanga. The incident took place at the Athi River Bridge, next to the Shell gas station. Mutinda died on the spot.
