Police are looking for a gang that attacked a senior police officer in Vihiga and robbed him of his pistol loaded with 15 bullets. The Officer Commanding Station Vihiga Kevin Rutto told his colleagues he was on patrol in the area using his private car when he was attacked and stabbed. A sergeant of police was arrested after he threatened to shoot at a crowd in Huruma area, Nairobi. The officer was on duty in the area when he retreated to the police station and cocked his rifle and declared “enough is enough”, police said. Former Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has been arrested. The former minister was nabbed alongside three others by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers. A key suspect in the Shakahola massacre was Thursday detained in custody for a further 130 days. A Shanzu court granted the state’s application to extend the detention of Paul Mackenzie and 65 other suspects for 130 days pending investigations and charges. The state had requested 180 days of additional detention through Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Jami Yamina. The revenue collected by the government on the eCitizen portal in a single day has crossed the Sh900 million mark for the first time.
