The East African Community (EAC) Chiefs of Defence Forces/Staff Wednesday adopted an exit plan of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) from eastern DRC. The security chiefs convened an extraordinary meeting in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania on Wednesday to address the modalities of the exit following the DRC’s decision not to extend the current mandate, set to expire today. Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen has filed a petition against Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over alleged involvement in Sh15.3 billion bribe. Murkomen has accused the legislator of defamation for claiming that he received the aforementioned amount of money from a Chinese Company identified as China Wu Yi. At least 40 Ethiopians were arrested while being transported on motorcycles in Merti, Isiolo County. Police said the men were in the country illegally and claimed they were on transit to South Africa when they were nabbed. The incident happened on Tuesday, December 5 evening at Biligo – Degogicha Junction along Merti Road. There were gunshots at the scene as police approached the scene where the aliens were. A 42-year-old man was found dead in his house in Nairobi’s Kilimani area. The body of Anthony Gakuo was found on his bed at an apartment along Kirichwa road long after he had died. Police said the cause of the death is under probe. An ambulance was called to the scene to help resuscitate him in vain. Police said the body had no visible injuries. A man was killed by a speeding train along the Nairobi-Ruiru railway line. He was knocked down because he was crossing the railway line while on earphones and could not hear the approaching train, police said. A driver of the goods train said he knocked down the deceased at Mtindwa area as he raced to the Nairobi Railways station. The deceased was walking along the railway line while on earphones and could not hear the approaching train. The safety of security x-ray equipment and electro magnetic gadgets is being raised after it emerged most of them have not been inspected as required by law. And to ensure safety for all users, the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) and Kenya Nuclear Regulatory Authority (KNRA) plan a countrywide inspection of the gadgets. Federal prosecutors have filed tax charges against Hunter Biden, a second criminal case against the US president’s son. The nine-count indictment says he schemed to evade at least $1.4m (£1.1m) in federal taxes from 2016-19. The three felonies and six misdemeanours include failure to file and pay taxes, false tax return and evasion of assessment. Hunter Biden was indicted in September on federal firearm charges in Delaware. President Joe Biden’s 53-year-old son has already pleaded not guilty in the gun case. A lone shooter opened fire on the main campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on Wednesday, killing three people and wounding a fourth before the suspect was shot dead by police, authorities said at a news briefing hours afterwards. A High Court has issued orders suspending the prosecution of Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o. Justice Chacha Mwita issued the orders on Thursday following a petition filed by West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka. The orders will remain in force until May 21, 2024. Kenya is sending 1,500 farm workers to Israel, the labour ministry has said. The announcement comes nearly two weeks after Malawi sent 221 young people to work on Israeli farms, triggering a backlash against the government. The casual workers will be deployed on three-year renewable contracts, “with a guaranteed net income” of $1,500 the labour ministry added. “These opportunities number about 1,500 with a guaranteed net income of 1,500 USD per month, on 3 years renewable contracts.
