Police in Kilifi County recovered 316 kilograms of bhang estimated to have a street value of Sh9,480,000. This is after the Toyota Land Cruiser used as transport means landed into a ditch in a self-involved accident on Monday afternoon. Members of Parliament have given their approval to reforms being undertaken to clear the backlog of passports at the Directorate of Immigration. The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Administration and Security that was on fact-finding visit to Nyayo House that hosts the Immigration headquarters expressed optimism that the reforms will also cut down on the waiting time for new passports. The reforms have seen an introduction of a day and night shift that has raised the number of passports printed daily to 4000 up from 1,500. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and former governor of Nairobi Evans Kidero have resolved a Sh427 million shilling tax dispute. Now, in accordance with the terms of the agreement, the former Nairobi head must pay Sh19.4 million to the taxman. The new amount is inclusive of the principal tax of Sh12,038,982 million, a penalty of Sh2,407,796, and interest of Sh5,036.405 million. A new law in Texas requires convicted drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill a child’s parent or guardian, according to House Bill 393. The anti-graft agency’s head of Corporate Communications, Eric Ngumbi, said the land had been illegally obtained from Kisite Mpunguti Marine Reserve in Kwale County. At least two elite police officers were Sunday killed while six were injured when a vehicle they were traveling in was hit by a bomb in Arabia area, Mandera County.
