A top official who has been serving as the acting head of finance at the Judiciary has blocked the hiring of a new Director of Finance through court action. According to a local publication, the Employment and Labour Relations Court has stopped the Judiciary from filling the critical position. Susan Oyatsi who has been holding the position in acting capacity for the past seven years has obtained court orders barring the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) from filling the vacancy. A report by the Auditor General has revealed that the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) paid Sh17 million in allowances to staff for cheering Bandari Football Club matches. In a report presented in Parliament, KPA is said to have made the payments despite Bandari FC being an independent football club with an independent budget. The Coalition of igbo-British lawyers has condemned Kenya for handing over the leader of a separatist group to Nigeria. Questions have been raised over by the Interior Ministry after one of the departments headed by PS Zeinab Hussein advertised for the sale of Prison Services livestock despite the department needing the same for weekly consumption. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a suspect wanted for allegedly defrauding a Nakuru-based nursing home Ksh948,000 in a false shipping deal. Samuel Mwenda Mutua, whose company trades as World Freight Logistics Limited, is said to have been contracted by St. Joseph’s Maternity and Nursing Home to deliver hospital equipment but went under after receiving the payment. The EU is set to make available its Covid-19 passport for its citizens and residents, as well as for specific categories of travelers from third world countries, by July 1.
