Two people were today arraigned at a Mombasa Court and charged with stealing a Ceska pistol and 15 bullets at Deputy President William Ruto’s Mombasa residence. The suspects, Elsia Kazungu and Joshua Owiti, are also accused of stealing Ksh700 and a mobile phone worth Ksh1,200 belonging to a police officer attached at the DP’s residence. The charges sheet read that the two committed the offence on December 19, 2019. A rare migratory bird that recently flew a distance of 6948 kilometres from Finland to land in Siaya County has died. A statement by the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) indicates that the bird known as Osprey died over the weekend while under the care of KWS veterinaries. The team attributed the four-year-old bird’s death to “long term starvation which precipitated systemic organs failure”. The family of Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve, who suffered gunshot wounds after a shooting incident that led to the arrest of Embakasi Member of Parliament Babu Owino, has opposed the release of the lawmaker on bail/bond. Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been charged with assault and causing bodily harm. Kuria is accused of assaulting Joyce Wanja at Royal Media studios on December 8. Appearing at Milimani law Courts, Kuria pleaded not guilty to the charges and was freed on Ksh50,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Ksh20,000. The case will be mentioned on February 8. The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has accused the family of former military officer Peter Mugure of interfering with investigations in Mugure’s murder case. The ex-soldier was early this year charged with murdering his estranged wife and two children. 17 students of Kabianga High School in Kericho County, who were recently suspended for refusing to sit for exams on Saturday,  have been recalled.
