Justice Byram Ongaya directed that Francis Wangusi, whose term elapsed on August 21, remain in office until a case challenging the appointment of Mercy Wanjau as Acting Director-General is heard and determined. Head of Rwandan community in Mozambique, Louis Baziga, was on Monday killed in the capital, Maputo. Reports by BBC indicate that the successful businessman, who ran shops and pharmaceuticals in Maputo, was in his car when he was ambushed by armed men at around midday. Rwanda’s ambassador to Mozambique Claude Nikobisanzwe told the international media that the unidentified gunmen are yet to be arrested. “Mr Baziga was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Communication Authority Acting Director-General Mercy Wanjau has given former CA boss Francis Wangusi a 30-day notice to vacate the government-owned house he occupies. In a letter seen by Kahawa Tungu dated August 22, the vacation notice will lapse on Sunday, September 22, 2019. “You are hereby notified that you have been given thirty (30) days from the date of this letter, to vacate the institution house which you currently occupy,” the notice reads in part. Undercover detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday night gunned down two suspected robbers at Kiamaiko in Starehe, Nairobi. According to the DCI, the two were shot dead after they defied orders to surrender. Two other suspects escaped unhurt. Police in Kisumu are holding a couple that attacked a chief and a village elder who accompanied census official to their home in Obunga slums on Sunday. According to reports, the man identified as Richard Ochieng’ bit the fingers of the village elder while his wife hit the area assistant chief, Maurice Ojwang, with a piece of brick on his thighs. The government has announced new guidelines that will govern acquisition of e-passports. In a notice issued on Sunday, the immigration department stated that Kenyans will now be required to book appointments through the e-citizen portal before visiting passport processing centres where their biometrics will be taken. During the application, individuals will be required to specify the date, time and station of their convenience. Following the changes, applicants who had already made their passport applications online have been advised to revisit the e-citizen portal in order to book appointments. Two-time Olympic 800m champion and world record holder David Rudisha is nursing minor injuries after his car was involved in an accident along the Kisii-Keroka highway, few kilometres from Keroka town. Machakos County government officer Geoffrey Kwatemba who doubles up as recording gospel musician was reportedly kidnapped in Nairobi on Saturday. Kwatemba, who is a former radio presenter at Milele FM, was reportedly accosted in Nairobi while on his way from West Pokot where he had attended singer Doreen Otipo’s album launch.
