BBC Journalist Danny Baker has been sacked after he tweeted a joke about the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex’s son using a picture of a chimpanzee.

Baker, a British radio presenter, tweeted an image of a chimpanzee dressed in clothes below the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital.”

The tweet, which has since been deleted, had circulated on social media, showed an image of a couple holding hands with a chimpanzee dressed in clothes with the caption: “Royal Baby leaves hospital.”

Announcing his own exit, Danny tweeted: “Just got fired.”

The BBC is also noted to have reported the news.

The journalist, a presenter in a show called 5live, was accused of mocking the duchess’ racial heritage.

Baker has since received massive backlash for his racist tweet given that the Duchess of Sussex is mixed race.

On Monday, Meghan gave birth to her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who is now the first mixed race child to be born into a senior position in British royalty in recent history.

Speaking on the unwelcome tweet, BBC’s spokesman asserted that Baker’s tweet “goes against the values we as a station aim to embody.

“Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us,” the international station added.

Baker was fired despite apologizing for the picture posted stating that the joke was intended to poke fun at the Royal family.

“Once again. Sincere apologies for the stupid unthinking gag pic earlier. Was supposed to be joke about Royals vs circus animals in posh clothes but interpreted as about monkeys & race, so rightly deleted,” the 61-year old noted.
