Britney Spears’ eldest son, Sean Preston, has made a noticeable change to his social media identity, updating his Instagram handle to include his mother’s surname while dropping his father’s last name.
The 20-year-old now goes by “Sean P Spears” on Instagram, a shift from his previous handle, “Sean Preston,” according to TMZ reports.
The change comes shortly after Sean reunited with his mother during a yacht getaway over the weekend. Spears shared photos from the trip showing Sean posing with her and his younger brother, Jayden James, 19.
While Jayden has been seen publicly with the pop star on several occasions, Sean’s appearance alongside his mother is less common, making the reunion particularly notable.
Sean is the son of Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Reports suggest the relationship between mother and son has had challenges in recent years, including an instance last December when Sean reportedly declined an invitation to spend the holidays with Spears and Jayden in California.
At the time, he was said to have spent the holidays in Louisiana with relatives, including his grandmother Lynne Spears and aunt Jamie Lynn Spears.
However, the recent yacht photos show a warmer moment between mother and son, with Sean seen putting his arm around Spears during the family outing.
The reunion comes shortly after Spears was arrested on March 4 on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura, California. She was released the following morning, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
