Real estate businessman George Siddondo was Monday killed in an accident along the Narok-Mai Mahiu highway.

Police said the accident happened after a Honda CRV that he was driving collided head on with a lorry in the Ntulele area. He died on the spot.

Siddondo, 57 was driving from Kisumu to Nairobi on Monday at about 1 pm when the accident happened.

Three other people who were in Siddondo’s car were injured in the accident. They were rushed to hospital and admitted with multiple injuries but in stable condition, police said.

Police removed the wreckage from the scene pending an investigation. He was a son to former one star general Brig Fred Siddondo. Many friends described him as a good man.

On Monday, at least five people were killed in separate road accidents. Police said the victims included three passengers, a driver and a rider.

At least 11 others were left with serious injuries in the accidents. According to the police, the victims included five passengers, three riders, two pillion passengers and a driver

The bodies were moved to separate mortuaries pending autopsies and investigations.

Fatal accidents have been on the increase amid efforts to address the trend. At least 2,933 people were killed in accidents between January and August 2025.

Thousands of others were left with injuries following the accidents reported.

Police and officials from the National Transport and Safety Authority say they are running a campaign to address the menace and that speeding is one of the leading causes of the incidents.

NTSA also says the leading causes of fatal crashes included hit-and-runs, tyre bursts, and vehicles and motorcycles losing control.

Also overtaking improperly and failing to keep the proper lane resulting in head-on collisions are mentioned as causes.
