Cronin’s professional career began when he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 36th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
He started in the minor leagues, pitching for teams such as the rookie-level Arizona League White Sox and Single-A Kannapolis, where he posted a 2.88 ERA across 20 games.
Like many athletes, Cronin faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, which canceled the 2020 minor league season.
However, he returned to action in 2021 and split his time between High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham, finishing with a combined record of 5–2 and a 4.56 ERA.

His persistence paid off when he made his MLB debut with the White Sox on July 30, 2023, appearing in nine games before being designated for assignment later that year.
In early 2024, Cronin’s career took another turn when he was claimed off waivers by the Houston Astros on January 4 but was soon designated again.
The Miami Marlins then claimed him on February 7, 2024.
During his first full season with the Marlins, Cronin made an impact by appearing in 56 games and recording a 4.35 ERA with 72 strikeouts over 70.1 innings pitched.
A highlight of his season was setting a franchise record by pitching 65 innings before allowing his first home run.
As of February 2025, Cronin has continued to develop as a reliable MLB pitcher.
