The decomposed body of a man was found in a forest long after his suspected murder in Kondoo area, Uasin Gishu County.

It is not clear how the victim died, police said on Monday. The body was found by a group of women who were fetching firewood in the area.

Police were alerted and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Along the Webuye-Eldoret highway in Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu County, the body of a man was found with bruises on the legs, hands, face and abdomen. The man seemed to have been murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped at the scene. The motive was not known and the body was moved to the mortuary for other procedures, police said of the February 16, 2026 incident.

In Baricho, Kirinyaga County, a suspect was arrested over the murder of a woman in the area.

The woman identified as Jane Wambui, 46 was found murdered in the area on Monday and the motive was yet to be established, police said.

In Maragua, Muranga County, a fire killed a man, police said.

Police said the incident happened on February 16 after the fire broke out in the man’s house. His body was discovered long after the incident had happened and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Kalawani, Mbooni, Makueni County, a suspect was stoned to death and his body set on fire.

Police said they are investigating the incident that happened on Monday. Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing.

Elsewhere in Dabel, Moyale, Marsabit County, two suspects were arrested and a pistol recovered from them in the Hilo area.

The suspects were found with a Star pistol which had two rounds of ammunition. Police said one of the suspects was an Ethiopian. The two were taken for grilling pending ballistic tests on the weapon. The route is seen as one of those used for gun smuggling and has prompted police operations at large to tame the practice.
