    Édgar Filiberto Ramírez Arellano is a renowned Venezuelan actor known for his versatile performances in both Hollywood films and international projects.

    Born on March 25, 1977, in San Cristóbal, Venezuela, he grew up in a family where his mother, Soday Arellano, worked as an attorney, and his father, Filiberto Ramírez, served as a military officer.

    Ramírez studied communications at the Andrés Bello Catholic University, initially considering a career in diplomacy or media before transitioning into acting.

    Fluent in multiple languages including Spanish, English, French, German, and Italian, he has built a global presence in the entertainment industry.

    Beyond his professional life, Ramírez has been involved in humanitarian efforts, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF in Venezuela and advocating for various social causes.

    Edgar has one sibling, an older sister named Nataly.

    He is also an uncle to Nataly’s children, including a nephew named Enrique Alberto and a niece named Maria Camila, whom he has spoken about fondly.

    The actor has shared personal stories of loss within his extended family, such as mourning the deaths of his aunt, uncle, and grandmother due to COVID-19 in 2021, underscoring the importance of family in his life.

    Career

    Ramírez began his acting journey in Venezuela, gaining widespread recognition for his role as Cacique in the popular soap opera Cosita Rica, which aired from 2003 to 2004 and spanned over 270 episodes.

    His international breakthrough came with the 2005 film Domino, directed by Tony Scott, where he starred alongside Keira Knightley.

    He continued to diversify his portfolio with films like Zero Dark Thirty in 2012, The Counselor in 2013, Deliver Us from Evil in 2014, the remake of Point Break in 2015, Joy in 2015, The Girl on the Train in 2016, Gold in 2016, Bright in 2017, Furlough in 2018, The Quietude in 2018, Wasp Network in 2019, The Undoing in 2020, Jungle Cruise in 2021, The 355 in 2022, Borderlands in 2024, and Emilia Perez in 2024.

    Throughout his career, Ramírez has collaborated with acclaimed directors and actors, establishing himself as a sought-after talent in both action-packed blockbusters and character-driven dramas.

    Accolades

    Ramírez has received numerous accolades for his work, most notably winning the César Award for Most Promising Actor for his role in the miniseries Carlos in 2011.

    For the same performance, he earned nominations for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.

    Earlier in his career, he was honored with the Hollywood Life Magazine Award as a new actor and the Best Actor award at the Municipal Feature Film Festival in Venezuela.

    Ramírez also won the Best Actor award at the Malaga Film Festival and has been recognized with ALMA Awards for his contributions to film.
