The Ministry of Education has announced 1,000 internship opportunities under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5.

The vacancies have been announced through the State Department for Basic Education as the government continues to strengthen the use of technology in teaching and learning across primary schools.

In a notice issued by the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to schools at the sub-county level.

The interns will gain practical skills and experience while supporting virtual learning and other digital platforms used in schools.

Applicants must have graduated not earlier than 2022 to qualify for the internship programme.

They must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Information Communication Technology (ICT), a Bachelor’s degree in ICT, a Diploma in ICT or a Diploma in ICT Integration in Education from a recognised institution.

Applicants must also have knowledge and skills in networking and infrastructure, applications development, information security and project management.

The Ministry is also seeking candidates who can integrate ICT into education, particularly in e-learning and content development.

Applicants should have the requisite skills to undertake research and innovation aimed at supporting the Digital Literacy Programme.

Successful candidates must be willing to work on a full-time basis and be deployed to any Sub-county Education Office.

The applicants must also not have benefited from a similar government internship programme.

The selected interns will support e-learning and content development in line with approved schemes of work.

They will also provide classroom support and train primary school teachers on the use of digital literacy devices.

Other responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme and developing innovations to help schools improve the use of digital learning technologies.

The interns will further assist schools in promoting the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.

They will work with teachers to integrate ICT into teaching, learning and assessment.

The interns will also support school staff in the development and production of key school policies and procedures.

In addition, they will provide first-line support and maintenance of ICT services in schools.

The internship programme will run for 12 months and will not be renewable.

The interns will receive a monthly stipend from the State Department for Basic Education at a rate determined by the government.

The programme is designed to provide young ICT and education professionals with practical experience while helping schools strengthen their digital learning capacity.

“On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education,” the notice reads.

Interested and qualified candidates have been directed to submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s jobs portal.
