    Elias Lindholm is a Swedish professional ice hockey player currently serving as a forward for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League.

    Born on December 2, 1994, in Boden, Sweden, and raised in Gävle, he has established himself as a versatile two-way center known for his skating, defensive reliability, and offensive contributions.

    Lindholm comes from a hockey family, with his father Mikael having played professionally, including a brief stint in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings.

    He began skating at the age of three while his family lived in Germany during his father’s playing days with the Hannover Scorpions.

    Lindholm was selected fifth overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and has since built a solid career across multiple teams.

    Elias is the younger brother of Oliver Lindholm, who is also a professional ice hockey player competing in the Swedish third division.

    The brothers share a strong family connection to the sport, influenced by their father’s career.

    Career

    Lindholm’s professional journey began in Sweden with Brynäs IF in the Swedish Hockey League, where he developed his skills before making the leap to North America.

    After being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes, he made his NHL debut in the 2013-14 season and quickly made history as the youngest Swedish-born player to score an NHL goal.

    He spent five seasons with the Hurricanes, recording consistent production as a young forward.

    In 2018, he was traded to the Calgary Flames in a deal involving Noah Hanifin and others.

    During his time in Calgary, Lindholm enjoyed his most productive years, including a career-high 42-goal season in 2021-22 alongside linemates Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, forming one of the league’s most effective lines.

    He earned recognition as a strong defensive forward, finishing in the top ten for Selke Trophy voting multiple times.

    In January 2024, Lindholm was traded to the Vancouver Canucks as part of a multi-team deal, where he contributed during their playoff run.

    On July 1, 2024, he signed a seven-year contract with the Boston Bruins worth an average of $7.75 million annually, reuniting him with the organization where he has continued to provide veteran leadership and two-way play.

    Internationally, Lindholm has represented Sweden at various levels, including winning gold at the 2017 IIHF World Championship and earning silver medals at the World Junior Championships.

    Accolades

    Lindholm was named the NHL’s Best Swedish Player in 2019, receiving the Viking Award.

    On the international stage, he captured gold with Sweden at the 2017 World Championships and secured two silver medals at the U20 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in 2013 and 2014.

    Lindholm has also been recognized for his all-around game, with multiple top-ten finishes in Selke Trophy voting for the league’s best defensive forward.
