
A KCSE student from Barsumbat Secondary School in Elgeyo Marakwet died after consuming poisonous methanol from the school’s laboratory.
Another student is said to have lost his sight as a result of drinking the same concoction. The Elgeyo Marakwet sub county Education officer Evans Onyancha confirmed the incident but said that the death were not as a results of the consuming the methanol.
He said that the students had gone for a drinking spree outside the school where they consumed the illicit changaa brew,
Last week, Job Murambi, a student at Meso Secondary school in Trans Nzoia is said to have sneaked Ethanol out of the laboratory after the KCSE chemistry practical exam on Tuesday.
His father, Martin Wafula, found him unconscious in the house, prompting him to rush Job to Kiminini Cottage hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kitale OCS Daniel Kadei confirmed the news and said that investigations have been launched to establish the cause of the death.
