Detectives are investigating an incident where a shopkeeper was shot and killed in a robbery mission in Ntimaru, Migori County.
Police said Morris Marwa, 45 was shot seven times at close range in a rage by suspected thugs who had raided his shop on Sunday May 3 night.
The area was experiencing a blackout when two men, one armed with an AK47 rifle, arrived. They found a few customers and Marwa at the shop before ordering them to sit down.
The other victims sat as ordered but Marwa resisted and demanded to know who they were. This, according to witnesses, angered the gunman who stepped back and opened fire flooring him.
They shot him in the chest, legs and left hand before fleeing the scene. Police said the gang did not steal anything from the shop as they escaped after the fatal shooting.
A team of police who arrived at the scene said they recovered two spent cartridges for ballistic analysis.
The team said they were hunting for the gang for justice.
In the same area, the gang raided a shop and grabbed Sh150,000 from the attendants.
Police said the incident happened a few meters away from the scene where they had shot and killed a shopkeeper.
The gang escaped after an alarm was raised.
Police said the area has been experiencing a rise in armed robberies amid efforts to solve the trend.
Detectives have solved some of the incidents while others lie unsolved.
