Several top government leaders including Cabinet Secretaries (CS’s) spent the better part of the day overseeing the ongoing process of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

The trend started with President Uhuru Kenyatta who paid a surprise visit to Uhuru Gardens Primary School in Langata ahead of their Science, Kiswahili and Insha examinations. President Kenyatta was accompanied by KNEC Chairman Prof George Magoha and Education CS Amina Mohamed who opened the Langata sub-county container at 6am.

On the other side, Interior Security CS Dr Fred Matiang’i, in the company of North Eastern Regional Commissioner Mohammed Birik, witnessed the opening of the exam container at Sankuri Division in Garissa before visiting several schools, including Sankuri and Garissa primary schools.

Later in the day, Education CS made impromptu monitoring visits to Langata Barracks, Dr Aggrey and Muslim Primary Schools.

President Kenyatta promised that there will be 100 per cent transition to secondary schools for this year’s KCPE candidates.

“Do not be under pressure to do anything that is wrong, just do your best and my promise is so long as you have done your best, everyone of you will find a place in secondary school,” the President said.
