The leader of majority in the county assembly who pushed the motion said that they want to stand with the victims  who were injured and that this fund would be exclusive of the money that was used to clear mortuary charges.

Their efforts were echoed by the Homabay governor, Cyprian Awiti, who said that the victims should not be charged in the hospital and that he would liaise with stakeholders to ensure that all the bills for the demonstration victims were settled.
