Capitec Bank is one of South Africa’s most popular financial institutions, known for its simple and digital-friendly banking services. One of the convenient features offered by Capitec is the ability to manage debit orders directly through the Capitec app. If a company or service provider is deducting money from your account without your consent or if you simply no longer wish to continue with a certain payment, you can cancel or dispute the debit order easily. Here is how to cancel debit order Capitec app.

    1. Understand What a Debit Order Is

A debit order is an agreement that allows a company to withdraw money from your bank account automatically, usually for things like insurance, loans, or subscriptions. Cancelling a debit order means stopping these automatic deductions. It’s important to note that debit orders can be either authorised (you agreed to them) or unauthorised (you did not give permission).

    1. Open the Capitec App

To cancel a debit order, start by opening the Capitec Bank app on your smartphone. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version for smooth performance. Log in securely using your PIN or biometric login. Once you are logged in, you will see your main account dashboard.

    1. Go to the “Transact” Menu

From the main screen, tap on the Transact option. This menu allows you to perform different transactions such as sending money, buying airtime, and managing debit orders.

    1. Select “Debit Orders”

Scroll down and tap on Debit Orders. You will see a list of all the debit orders linked to your account. Each debit order will display the name of the company, the amount deducted, and the date it usually goes off.

    1. Choose the Debit Order to Cancel

From the list, select the debit order you want to cancel. Review the details carefully to ensure you’re cancelling the correct one. Tap Stop Debit Order or Dispute Debit Order depending on your situation.

If it is an authorised debit order that you no longer want, choose to stop it. If it is an unauthorised debit order, choose to dispute it and Capitec will investigate the transaction on your behalf.

    1. Confirm the Cancellation

After selecting your reason, confirm your decision by following the on-screen prompts. The app may ask you to enter your remote PIN to verify your request. Once completed, you will receive a confirmation message showing that the debit order has been successfully cancelled or disputed.

    1. Monitor Your Account

After cancelling, keep an eye on your account to make sure the debit order no longer goes off. If the company continues to debit your account, contact Capitec’s customer care immediately or visit your nearest branch for further assistance.
