The Jubilee Party has appointed former Narok North Member of Parliament Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta as its new Secretary General, replacing Jeremiah Kioni.

In a statement issued on Thursday, January 22, the party said the decision was made during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting chaired by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“The Jubilee Party National Executive Committee, under the leadership of H.E. Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, is pleased to announce the appointment of former Narok North MP Hon. Richard Moitalel Ole Kenta as the Party Secretary General,” the statement said.

Ole Kenta is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi.

He was first elected to Parliament in 2013 on a TNA ticket and served two consecutive terms before contesting the Narok gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Election.

The new Secretary General has also served in senior positions in public institutions, including as Chairman of Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) and as a Director at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC).

The Jubilee Party said Ole Kenta brings wide experience in leadership, law, and governance, which will strengthen the party as it prepares for future elections.

“A public servant by conviction, Hon. Kenta brings to the party a wealth of experience in elective politics, legal expertise, strategic management, and institutional governance at a critical time as Jubilee strengthens its structures and prepares for the next General Election,” the party said.

The party urged its members and supporters to give Ole Kenta full support in his new role.

Ole Kenta will be deputised by former Education CAS Zack Kinuthia. Meanwhile, outgoing Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has been appointed Jubilee Deputy Party Leader.

The changes come months after the party named Dr Fred Matiang’i as Deputy Party Leader.

On October 30, Kioni said the decision was reached during another NEC meeting chaired by Uhuru Kenyatta. He added that the committee had unanimously endorsed Matiang’i as Jubilee’s presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election.

“We have received and formally accepted Dr Fred Matiang’i’s application for the presidency, and the NEC has agreed that he will be our flag bearer,” Kioni said at the time.
