Students of Kenyatta University are complaining of unqualified lecturers being allowed to teach on topics that they have neither studied for nor have a proper understanding of.

School of Security, Diplomacy and Peace Studies students claim that their lecturers do not have qualifications to teach and research in conflict, security, diplomacy, international relations, policing, strategic studies etc.

The students say they have complained to the University Academic Staff Union (UASU) but no action has been taken since the school is allegedly protecting the staff.

The only administrator in the school of Security whose studies are allegedly relevant to school’s mandate is Mr. Joseph Wasonga.

The rest have fake identity as below:

Ms. Felistus Kinyanjui- trained in history but masquerades as a military scholar at the Kenya Military Academy- KMA and as an expert of Conflict management at the Kenya Police College, Loresho.

Mr. Cyprian Kavivya- trained in religion/theology but masquerades as an expert of security management, penology and taught Personal Security.

Ms. Lucy Maina trained in social entrepreneurship but masquerades as an expert of military, security and global conflict analysis.

The above faculty members bring their friends, classmates, neighbors, sugar boys, sugar girls and kick back part-time instructors to teach and supervise security, diplomacy, international relations, policing, conflict, military and strategic studies, Kahawa Tungu has learnt.

Some of them give Wikipedia notes and pretend to supervise research and attachment.

The students are requesting UASU to audit the academic backgrounds of the instructors versus what they pretend to supervise both for the military college and police studies and ask for further scrutiny by the National Assembly and Senate.

The students call upon UASU to assist in putting in place measures that will ensure an academic audit.
