A 16-year-old boy killed his mother’s lover on Monday night after he allegedly bumped into the duo making love.

The incident occurred at Ririat Village in Bureti Constituency within Kericho county.

The Form One student at Kabarus Day Secondary School is said to have reached for a knife after an argument ensued between him and the 60-year-old man.

“After killing the man, the boy’s mother screamed. I rushed to the scene and saw the old man fall down with a sickening thud as blood oozed from his chest,” Ms Mutai, a neighbour said.

The man reportedly died on the spot.

According to the area Chief Anderson Rotich, the boy had banished the man from their home after realizing his relationship with his 40-year-old widowed mother.

“The young man had banished the man from the compound before and when he found him having sex with his mother in the kitchen, he lost his temper. He beat the old man before picking a knife and stabbed him twice in the chest,” he said.

Kericho County Deputy Police Commander Patricia Nasio, confirmed the incident saying they have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

“We are investigating the incident. We are on the trail of the suspect, once he is arrested, he will be arraigned in court to face relevant charges,” she said.

She urged young men to be very careful on how they handle intricate matters.

“We are calling particularly on young men to respect their mothers and the choices they make in terms of heart matters,” said Nasio.

The body of the deceased was removed to Kaplaketet Sub County hospital as investigations continue.
