Jubilee MPs want the government to concentrate more on the regions that overwhelmingly voted them in instead of the unappreciative opposition strongholds.

Speaking in Kirinyaga, Senate deputy speaker Kithure Kindiki noted that the Jubilee Government in its first term in office had major development projects in Coast and Western regions but did not get the votes in the August/October elections.

The Tharaka Nithi senator said that it was about time President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto spurred growth in Central and other areas that supported the duo.

Sharing Kindiki’s sentiments was Nyandarua Women Representative Faith Gitau who said that those not in support of the Jubilee administration’s should be completely left out of the its development agenda.

“If they don’t support our president, all development projects should not be taken to their areas. You cannot take development to people who abuse you on a daily basis,” Ms Gitau said.

They were defending the ruling regime’s  borrowing of Ksh.200 billion Eurobond that many feel is only sinking the country deeper into unsustainable levels of debt.

But the legislators defended the move saying that it will help the President leave a legacy and his four economic pillars.

“Those at the helm of power in the government, Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, know the plans for the country. The money they are borrowing is to facilitate development where that development will generate finances in the long run,” the former majority leader in the senate said.
