ngirici, kirinyagaIt was an eventful Sunday morning at Kianyaga Children’s Home, Kirinyaga County after Women Representative Purity Ngirici was blocked from presenting the children with gifts.

The home’s Chief Officer said the lawmaker did not follow ‘protocol and the right channels before making her donation.’

Ms Ngirici, brought the children 180 pairs of shoes, 180 mattresses among other gifts that she promised them during her last visit, last Sunday.

The MP’s supporters, as caught on video forcefully made way into the children’s home compound where she confronted the management.

She accused them of getting caught up in the local politics.

“Where is the registration book showing everyone who has come here? I have seen many people come here. This is cheap politics and you people are not going to gain from it,” the legislator said.

ngirici, kirinyagaThe Women Representative has in the past been at loggerheads with the area governor, Anne Waiguru.

On April 7, Waiguru accused the MP and her husband, Andrew of hiring goons to heckle her in front of the Deputy President William Ruto.

“That the politicians would want to disrupt a meeting graced by His Excellency the Deputy President, aimed at bringing development in Kirinyaga and improving the living conditions of our people is not only selfish but also utterly preposterous,” Ms Waiguru said in a statement.

The MP did however deny the accusations and asked the authorities to look into the matter.
