A Nigerian student, Monica Osagie reported her lecturer for asking for sex in exchange for better grades in a course for her master’s degree. She reports that her lecturer gave her the option to either sleep with him or fail the class.
The student of Obafemi Awolowo University released the audio to the school administration before it surfaced online and garnered attention from all over the world. She says that the accused lecturer, Professor Richard Akindele, was her mentor but started making sexual advances towards her.
She knew that no one would believe her so she decided to record their conversation and present it to the school’s authority.
In the recording, a man can be heard saying that if the student agreed to have sex with him five times, he would improve her grades. “Is it B that you want to give me or A? Why would it be five times you will knack me? Prof, you know what? Let me fail it. I can’t do it five times.” the girl asks.

The accusation helped to shed light on how some lecturers demand exchange of sexual favors for grades. An addition to the many women who have been opening up through the #MeToo movement.
The school has since released a statement stating the suspension of the lecturer as it conducts intensive investigations.
