Former head of the Presidential Press Unit, Lee Njiru insists that he is still the Personal Assistant/Press Secretary to retired president of Kenya, Daniel Arap Moi.
Lee Njiru served under the government of President Jomo Kenyatta and was transferred to the leadership of Daniel Arap Moi, still under the press unit.
According to John Lokorio, Lee retired in 2004, at the age of 55 years on several grounds but was requested for the extension of his services.

He then officially retired on June 30, 2017 but refused to let go of state- owned vehicles insisting that he still serves in the position.
His position was filled by Alex Kiprotich.
Lee has previously accused Moi’s personal secretary, John Lokorio of frustrating him in his position but Lokorio insists that Lee Njiru has retired.
He accused Lokorio of having a personal vendetta against him and said that he will continue to serve until retired President Moi does not need him anymore.
On JKL, Lee posed that ‘let anybody who thinks they are the official press secretary of the retired president come out and declare it’, they will be challenged in court.
