Likoni Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Joab Omondi has shot dead his girlfriend, a barmaid and later on killed himself in a bar.

Police reports have identified the woman shot in the Thursday night saga as Peninah. She was shot in a bar in Mtongwe where Omondi was a regular customer, well known to attendants and other regular customers.

Peninah, the barmaid, was shot minutes after serving the two.

The incidence happened after a heated argument between the three, but it is not yet clear what the argument was about.

Peninah was rushed to Coast General Hospital for treatment after the head shot, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Body moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary. The motive of the shooting is yet to be established,” the report reads in part.

The incident was reported at Inuka Police Station and police said investigations are ongoing.

There have been rampant love killings across the country, which are attributed to lack of proper communication and depression among couples.

On Sunday, Naomi Chepkemboi, a Pwani University student was stabbed severally by ex lover Nicholas Koech after she returned Ksh3,200 he sent for child support.

Speaking for the first time since the Sunday attack, Chepkemboi revealed that she dumped the Kenyatta University boyfriend because he was irresponsible.

“When I told him that I have moved on, he couldn’t believe it. [I terminated my relationship with him because] he wasn’t a responsible man,” said Chepkemboi.

According to Chepkemboi, Koech didn’t care for their new born baby girl, now four months old.

“His parents helped me and the baby for only two months. [After much thought], I saw it unwise to stick with him yet he wasn’t looking after his child. He was the type of a man who would forcefully take my money, when he found me in possession of some cash,” she added.
