Police in Lunga Lunga Sub-County, Kwale County launched investigations following the robbery and murder of a 33-year-old businessman who was attacked while travelling to his place of work.

The incident was reported at Lunga Lunga Police Station on Sunday, June 21, 2026 after a cess clerk employed by the Kwale County Government alerted authorities.

Police officers rushed to the scene at Mwangulu area, where they found the body of Mazera Chilungule, a 33-year-old businessman. He had sustained deep cut wounds to the neck and ear and had bled to death.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Chilungule, who operated M-Pesa outlets in Mwangulu and Vigogoni markets, was riding his Haojin motorcycle to Vigogoni Market when he was ambushed by about three assailants armed with crude weapons along the rough Mwangulu–Vigogoni road.

The attackers allegedly killed him before stealing an unknown amount of cash, his mobile phone, and his motorcycle.

Police later recovered the stolen motorcycle after it was abandoned near the Kenya–Tanzania border. The scene was processed and documented by crime scene investigators.

The body was moved to Msambweni Sub-County Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers, who remain at large, as investigations into the robbery and murder continue.

Elsewhere, police in Rarieda Sub-County, Siaya County, have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was discovered in a water catchment area with a severe head injury.

According to a police report, the incident was reported to Aram Police Station on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The body was found in Tiga Village, Akom Sub-location, South Asembo Location.

Police visited the scene and found the lifeless body of an unidentified man believed to be in his late 40s. The body was lying face down, with the legs inside a trench, and had a deep cut wound to the head.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the body was discovered by a local herder while grazing his cattle. He immediately alerted the area assistant chief, who informed the police.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Madiany Hospital Mortuary for preservation and a post-mortem examination.

Police are treating the case as a suspected murder and are working to establish the identity of the deceased, the circumstances surrounding his death, and those responsible.
