A 38-year-old man was electrocuted in a tragic incident in their house in a village in Likuyani, Kakamega County.

Police said Ian Ilavonga died after he leaned on a live naked wire in a house in Lumino area.

He and a friend were inspecting an unoccupied house when he leaned on the wall oblivious of the dangers there.

He died on the spot before the body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy, police said.

Electrocution has of late been seen as a leading cause of deaths in the country. Officials blame use of quacks for wiring and illegal connections for most of the incidents.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old woman who had gone missing for ten days was found dead in a forest in Kinamba, Laikipia County.

Police said Rantanoi Lolmodooni had been missing before the decomposed body was found in Ol Maisor Ranch on February 24. It is not clear how she died, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary for autopsy.

Elsewhere in Hadado, Wajir County, police said they were investigating an incident where an electrician collapsed and died.

Police said Geoffrey Mulinge, 42 was installing solar panels in the area when he developed breathing difficulties and collapsed.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And a police officer accidentally shot and wounded his leg as he checked the safety of his gun at Mikindani police station, Mombasa County.

The constable hit his left foot and sustained an injury that required his admission in hospital, police said.

The incident happened on February 23 evening as he checked the safety of his AK47 rifle at the station.

The weapon discharged one bullet hitting him in the foot.
