    Man killed in fire incident in Nyeri’s Ngawaini village

    A 25-year-old man was burnt to death in a fire incident in Ngawaini area, Nyeri County.

    Police said Solomon Keya was in his house when the incident happened on April 30, 2025 at about 9 pm. His body was burnt beyond recognition in a three-roomed timber house, police said.

    The cause of the fire is yet to be established, police said adding the body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

    The police want to establish if the incident was caused by arson.

    Elsewhere in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, a body was found in Kibarani River after a suspected murder. Villagers reported spotting the body before police were called to the scene.

    The motive behind the murder was not immediately known. Police said the body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

    In Geta area, Trans Nzoia, the body of a man was found floating in Seum River after a suspected drowning.

    The deceased was later identified as Joseph Ekai, 40.

    Police officers visited the scene and established that the deceased was harvesting sand from the riverbank, and he is believed to be epileptic.

    The body was retrieved and moved to Kitale County Hospital morgue for autopsy.

    In Ruiru, Kiambu County, a body was found on Mukuyu River after suspected drowning.

    Police officers visited the scene and found a partially decomposed body of Gibson Kuria, 61 and was retrieved from the river with the assistance of divers from the Kiambu County government.

    The body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home, awaiting autopsy.

    It is not clear if he was killed and dumped there or he drowned. Police said they are investigating the April 30, 2025 incident.

    In Homabay, police said one Esther Aluoch, 23 developed stomachaches and died while being attended to at a local hospital.

    The body was preserved at a local mortuary pending autopsy. Police investigating the cause of the death.
