Mario Maurer is a prominent Thai actor and model of mixed heritage.
Born on December 4, 1988, in Bangkok, Thailand, he is the son of a German father, Roland Maurer, and a Thai-Chinese mother, Warunya (also referred to as Waranya or Phantipha in some sources).
His full name is Nutthawuth Maurer, and he is known affectionately by the nickname “Oh.”
He pursued his education at Saint Dominic School and later earned a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Law at Ramkhamhaeng University.
Maurer gained widespread recognition starting as a model at age 16 and transitioned into acting, becoming one of Thailand’s most beloved stars in film and television.
Siblings
Mario has one sibling, an older brother named Marco Maurer, who is approximately five years his senior and was born in Germany.
Marco is a Thai rapper, hip-hop artist, and occasional actor.
The brothers share a notably close and supportive relationship, having collaborated early in their careers on a hip-hop duo called “PsyCho & Lil’Mario,” where they released an album titled Dem Crazy Boyz in 2007, with Mario contributing as a hypeman for fun.
Marco has pursued his own music projects, including singles like “Won’t Let You Go,” and Mario has often shown public support for his brother’s endeavors, such as appearing in related events or videos.
Career
Maurer’s career began in modeling after he was scouted at Siam Square at age 16, leading to photo shoots, commercials, and music videos.
His breakthrough came in 2007 with his acting debut in the lead role of “Tong” in the critically acclaimed film The Love of Siam, directed by Chukiat Sakveerakul.

The movie, which explored themes of youth and sexuality, brought him instant fame across Asia and beyond, despite his initial reluctance to pursue acting, he took the role partly to support his family financially.

Additional honors include a Best Actor win in the Southeast Asian film category at the 10th Cinemanila International Film Festival, where his work was praised for its maturity and emotional depth.
