Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba was Saturday summoned to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kiambu over claims she had mobilized a group to disrupt peace.

This came ahead of president William Ruto’s visit to the area on Saturday, April 5.

This also comes after a viral video showed her marching with a crowd chanting “Ruto Must Go” in Githunguri on the evening of Friday, April 4.

The incident occurred just as was scheduled to visit Githunguri in Kiambu for his Mt. Kenya development tour on April 5.

Wamuchomba confirmed her summons and promised to honor the same.

“The CCIO Kiambu has through a telephone called and  sermonned me; because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured to fake promises and projects that never materialised. Arrests you can do but that Will not change the facts ! No more lies ! You promised ,deliver!” she said in a post on her X.

While the motive for the summons was not officially revealed, the directive for her to appear before the DCI is seemingly tied to her alleged role in mobilizing the crowd.

Police said the move was a precaution to address some issues she had been linked to.

On Friday, Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji was arrested in Embu as Ruto toured the county.

He was in town waiting for the arrival of the President when he was seized.

He was bundled into a Subaru car and taken away as his supporters protested.

The MP was taken round the town for hours and later released at Piai area in the neighbouring Kirinyaga county.

Witnesses said they saw the officers who were in plain clothes grab the lawmaker and forced him into the car and sped off to unknown destination.

Ruto was scheduled to conclude his week long tour to Mt Kenya region on Saturday.
