A devastating road accident has been reported at Malaha Junction, leaving multiple people feared dead and several others injured.

According to early reports from witnesses and local sources, the crash occurred along the Webuye–Lugulu Road near Webuye when a heavy truck or trailer reportedly lost control and rammed into several vehicles, including private cars and motorcycles (bodabodas).

Preliminary information circulating online suggests that more than 10 people may have died at the scene, though the exact number has not yet been officially confirmed by authorities.

Witnesses say the truck veered off the road and crashed into multiple road users, causing widespread devastation. Several victims were reportedly lying on the road as bystanders rushed to assist the injured before emergency responders arrived.

Emergency services and ambulances were being called to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Local residents and motorists were among the first to respond, helping rescue survivors and attempting to manage traffic along the busy road. Authorities are expected to release an official statement once police and emergency teams complete their initial assessments.

The Webuye–Lugulu corridor is a busy route frequently used by public service vehicles, cargo trucks, and motorcycles connecting parts of western Kenya.

The accident once again highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Kenya. According to national reports, road accidents continue to claim dozens of lives every year across the country due to factors such as speeding, mechanical failure, and driver error.

Investigations are expected to determine the exact cause of the crash at Malaha Junction.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area as rescue operations continue. Casualty figures may change as more information becomes available and victims are identified.

More updates are expected as police and emergency officials release confirmed details about the tragedy.
