Popular Kikuyu musician Muigai wa Njoroge has been put under fire after his song “Mbari ya Kimendero” (clan of the greedy) was seen as a song meant to polarize the nation.

The song which he says has been plagiarized by his enemies, the deputy president William Ruto is depicted as being corrupt and greedy. In his defense he says that that was not the motive behind the song and that he is a man of God.

“I am a man of God and I cannot publish a song that will evoke ethnic tension,” the musician said in an interview.

In the song Muigai wa Njoroge likens political leaders to Dinosaurs saying that in ancient times they were big and mighty but due to their oppression of the weak they were reduced to small and helpless creatures.
The song has allegedly been a subject of discussion among members of parliament who are keen on the 2022 election.
Although the musician denies that the song is politically inspired, he directly attacks the handshake and leaders that are grooming their kin to take over after their terms elapse.
This is not the first song that has caused ripples among politicians from Central province and their Rift valley counterparts ,another song Hatuna deni loosely translated as we owe no one triggered a debate on who the people of Mount Kenya would rally behind in 2022. This forced the Deputy president William Ruto to say he was owed nothing for supporting president Kenyatta.

Musalia Mudavadi has also told the DP that him and Raila do not owe him anything after the 2007 general elections which Ruto said he was sideline.
